Captain Saravan was the commander of the naval wing of the Indian Peace Keeping Force that was sent to Sri Lanka when Rajeev Gandhi was Prime Minister of India. The progeny of Bollywood bombshell Venus Iyer and city businessman Vasudea Menon, Saravan is also a profligate womanizer. No woman is safe with the king of libido around. But no woman ever loved Saravan. Till Lanka Lakshmi came into his life. It's a torrid love affair after that till one day the unexpected happens. Lanka tells a violent love story.

Lanka is the first Malayalam film to be shot in Sri Lanka. Much of the filming is being done at Santo Maria, a 27-room luxurious sea-front villa 30 kilometers off Colombo, owned by a Malayalee sea food exporter. Suresh Gopi plays the slightly negative role of the libidinous Saravan. How that goes down with his die-hard fans is anybody's guess. Mamta is the leading lady.

She does some very sexplosive and provocative dance numbers in the film. AK Sajan directs and also does the script, while Shaji wields the camera. The film has music by Sreenivas and Rajesh Jayamohan and lyrics penned by BR Prasad.
