Chandanakkaattil Balagangadharan (played by Kulasala Babu) is the head of the KDF party and the State Education Minister. An unscrupulous politician, his sole ambition is to advance his political career and amass wealth, and is willing to sacrifice even family values to achieve his goal. He has three daughters and a son. The daughters are married off to highly placed bureaucrats to further his political ambitions.

Krishnakumar (played by Dileep), the only son of Balagangadharan, does not see eye to eye with his father. He does not approve of the ways adopted by his father to achieve his objectives. A youth leader of the KDF party, Krishnakumar is a politician driven by ideals. The father and son part ways. The story revolves around the events that mark Krishnakumar's political career. Roy (Saji Soman), Rafeeq (Binish Kodieri), Baby (Sreejith Ravi) and Ajith (Madhupal) are his close supporters. Sarika (played by Kaavya Madhavan) is the daughter of an erstwhile servant of Balagangadharan, and a sworn enemy of the political bigwig. She joins the local school, filling a temporary vacancy. Sarika had misgivings about Krishnakumar, but in course of time understands that he is not in politics for self advancement like his father.
